Discovery Brewing
Brewery
Studio IV - Spring 2021
Discovery Brewing
Background
This brewery will be located on the abandoned Disney World Resort's Discovery Island in Orlando, Florida.

Walt Disney has been making people smile in the entertaining industry since 1923. From films to theme parks all across the world, Disney has provided plentiful attractions for individuals. Specifically, Disney World in Orlando, Florida was one of the very first parks to open its doors back in 1965. Disney parks are known for catering to the younger generations to come, so what is Disney World lacking? Attractions for only adults to enjoy. Many people do not know that Disney World has a private island that has been abandoned for the past 20 years that once was it’s own attraction for animals, plants, and wildlife. This island is called Discovery Island. Now fast forward and imagine a private island for only the 21+ age group to enjoy that is just as magical as the rest of Disney World’s theme parks. This island is an adult playground that brings out your childish behaviors. What could make this even better? Being able to enjoy a cold brewed beer while letting the child in you come out. With my research, I want to know if it is possible to incorporate the brewing business into the innocence of the entertainment business Disney World already offers.
Discovery Brewing
Concept/Concept Statement
Some of the ways that will create this Disney inspired abandoned brewery is incorporating a historical building and allowing it to preceive as if the plant kingdom has taken over its location. The addition of furniture and ornamentation from the Victorian period will intensify the feeling of the building being older than it really is. Disney magic will be added to create an adult playground to enjoy like a child by providing suspended custom built giant bird cages for private dining experiences. These giant bird cages will feel like they were left here from when the island was once Discovery Island and had animal life within it. Building with nature as the main focus will only enhance the overall theme of this design being an abandoned brewery.

Can Disney’s Discovery Island, after 20 years of being abandoned, be repurposed and reimagined into a fully functional brewery specifically for the 21+ crowd?

Jewelry Store
Studio III - Fall 2020
Rayflection
Background
This jewelry store will be located on M Street in Georgetown, Washington DC.

This jewelry store has an area of 3,350 sqft and will be completely renovated within the interior and the storefront to develop a flagship store that will reestablish the client’s entire brand.

The overall goal for this design is to add a modern style, while also keeping the historical aspects that comes with this shopping location.
Rayflection
Concept
The concept for this design is to appreciate the natural effect a shining diamond creates. When light hits a diamond, it produces an array of colors. The goal for this environment will be focused using those range of colors. To create this effect, incorporating a variety of colorful stained glass with the correct use of light temperature and color will create a rainbow-like appearance throughout specific parts of the store. With this addition of stained glass, also incorporating antique furnishing and cabinetry will continue the historical aspect Georgetown has to offer. By using this technique and design style, it not only enhances the streets of Georgetown, but supports the main focus of the store being the diamonds.

Nizhoni Retreat
Medical Retreat
Studio III - Fall 2020
Nizhoni Retreat
Background
This medical retreat will be located in Sedona, Arizona.

This medical retreat will be completely renovated within the interior to create a harmonious relationship with the surrounding local exterior into the space.

The overall goal for this design is to use the vortex energy of the Sedona area and incorporate it into the facility to create a spiritual oasis experience.
Nizhoni Retreat
Concept
This design will be focused around the sacred and powerful aspect that Sedona, Arizona is known for. This energy is said to have created vortexes that are powerful enough to spin the trunk of a tree. Due to this energy hotspot, it has made Sedona known as a spiritual oasis that individuals travel hundreds of miles to experience. Nizhoni Retreat will bring that powerful energy of the desert location into the interior to enhance their patients experience not only physically, but also mentally. To create this effect, Biophilic Design will be the style used throughout the space. Biophilic Design is the use of materials from nature and the exterior to be brought into the interior space to enhance the overall wellbeing of individuals. Specific colors used include baby blue from the cloudless Arizona sky, pale green from the local trees, and monochromatic browns from the sands of the dry desert. There will also be a central energy spot in the lobby that twists the architecture to mimic the vortex spun trees. Health will constantly be the main focused throughout all decisions of the Nizhoni Retreat.

Freundly Architecture
Office
Studio II - Spring 2020
Freundly Architecture
Background
This office space is located at 1500 South Olive Street in Los Angeles, California.

This office space will be completely renovated within the interior with a main focus being around controlling acoustics and creating a lively work area for employees.

The overall goal for this design is to add a clean style to an open floor plan.
Freundly Architecture
Concept
At the core of this design concept we focus on keeping a lively open floorplan for collaboration, but taking the considerations for the acoustical challenges into account. The goal for this corporation is to allow their employees the most beneficial layout for interaction and creativity. The separation of open office spaces into two different zones will allow employees a choice of where they would prefer to work due to the differences in some peoples productivity and focus depending on the volume of certain areas. The overall atmosphere will be presented with custom desk sizes and different areas for individuals to work if choosing not to work at their desk is presented. The addition of earth tones such as honey yellow, dark night blue, and seafoam green will allow the space to become more informal/relaxed and promote involuntary interaction to create a space for both work and play.
